Adoption
Adoptions at our shelter in Phoenix are available Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM- 4:30 PM and on Saturdays from 10 AM- 3:30 PM. No appoinment is required to adopt, but we highly recommend you call ahead and reserve a time! This ensures that potential adopters get an appropriate amount of one-on-one time with the animals so we can make the perfect match.
Our adoption fee is $100 per dog or cat. This includes a $30 medical coverage guarantee and ensures health checks are up to date.
If you are a renter, we require a copy of your lease and an addendum stating that pets are allowed at your living situation PRIOR to adoption. If the pet policy has certain restrictions such as weight, breed, or type of animal, we may require you to get written approval from your landlord before we can adopt to you. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with the rules laid out in your lease before coming in to the shelter!
All adopters must be 21 or older. If the lifespan of the animal is expected to exceed that of the adopter, we require a backup to be present for the adoption in case the adopter is unable to care for the animal. We ensure all animals adopted are a good fit and are appropriate for the age and lifestyle of the adopter, and we hold the right to deny adoptions if we do not find the potential adopter to be an appropriate fit. Please note that we do not hold animals for any reason, and do not accept payment in advance to "reserve" animals.
Adoptions out of the Petsmart in Timonium do require an appointment, as there is not always a staff member present at the location. Please call the shelter at 410-527-1466 if you're interested in visiting with the cats, and we'll schedule a date and time for a staff member to meet you.
